IEA meet: COP28 President, Climate, and Energy Leaders Urge Concerted Global Action – February 21, 2024

High-level roundtable, organized by the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris, brought together countries from around the globe to discuss: “Beyond COP28: Time to Unite, Act, and Deliver on the UAE Consensus”, emphasizing the actions required to meet key energy targets agreed at COP28 and to keep 1.5 °C goal within reach.
COP28 President, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, underscored the significant outcomes of COP28 in propelling a pragmatic energy transition forward.
Laurent FABIUS, the former French Prime Minister and President of COP21, stressed the importance of turning agreements into action : He referred to the achievements of COP28 as a "game-changer," clearly differentiating between "hope and achievement."
John Kerry, the US Presidential Envoy for Climate , commented the COP28 consensus as "brilliant," marking it as a historic pledge to transition away from fossil fuels. He noted, "For the first time in history, we're saying 'we will.'
