Dr. Mustafa has extensive experience in managing multidisciplinary projects in mobility, and urbanism ranging from strategy, planning, design and implementation. Through this experience, he brings a keen eye for devising transportation solutions considering sustainability and smart city as a layer applied to all disciplines for all stages of planning and design to create attractive, liveable and sustainable developments. 

Dr. Mustafa led IBI Group’s practice in the Middle East 2007 to 2023. He was the director in charge of numerous transportation and planning projects in the Middle East and North Africa including UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Tunis, Morocco and Egypt. 

In 1998 to 2007 he led IBI Group’s projects in Canada in areas of applied technology in transportation, focusing on transit operation and smart cards. Prior to that, he worked in Europe on research and development programmes lead by the European Union in the field of smart mobility for the period from 1989 to 1998.
